North Dakota deer hunting season starts

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota's deer gun season begins Friday. The number of hunting licenses is down 19 percent from last year and the lowest in almost a decade.

The season opens at noon and continues through Nov. 21.

Wildlife officials say there are fewer deer statewide, and that 35 of the 38 hunting units have fewer licenses.

Game and Fish says 116,775 licenses are available to hunters this fall, a decrease of 27,625 from last year and the fewest since 2001.
