WASHBURN, N.D. (AP) — McLean County voters have approved spending up to $5.5 million for a new courthouse in Washburn.
WASHBURN, N.D. (AP) — McLean County voters have approved spending up to $5.5 million for a new courthouse in Washburn.
Unofficial returns show the measure passing with about 66 percent of the vote.
The county earlier abandoned the older portion of the courthouse that dates back a century. A colony of bats believed to be spreading a fungal infection drove the decision, but the building also has structural problems.
The county commission's intent is to build a smaller, more efficient building to connect to a recently built law enforcement center.
