FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Groups in North Dakota's Cass County and Minnesota's Clay County have launched an effort to better prepare for and respond to disasters.
The Cass/Clay Community Organizations Active in Disasters group will work to link volunteer agencies, faith-based organizations, nonprofits, local governments and human service agencies.
The counties divided by the Red River have dealt with major flooding the past two springs and already have become accustomed to working together.
The Forum reports that COAD groups are popular in other disaster-prone areas of the country. The Cass-Clay group is the first in North Dakota.
