MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — An animal rights group has posted a video of country music star Troy Gentry killing a captive, tame black bear.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — An animal rights group has posted a video of country music star Troy Gentry killing a captive, tame black bear.

SHARK — Showing Animals Respect and Kindness — obtained the video from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service through a lawsuit under the Freedom of Information Act earlier this month, and posted it on YouTube on Monday.

Steve Hindi, president of the Geneva, Ill., based group, said Tuesday they wanted to make the video public because they thought Gentry got off too lightly.

Gentry, half of the duo Montgomery Gentry, pleaded guilty in 2006 to falsely registering the bear as shot in the wild. He was fined $15,000 and put on probation for three months. He also forfeited the stuffed bear and the bow he used kill it at a private wildlife park near Sandstone, Minn., in 2004.

The video had been edited to make it appear Gentry killed the bear named "Cubby" in the wild.

Messages left with Montgomery Gentry's management company were not immediately returned.
