Hunter accidentally kills self in western Minn.

MORRIS, Minn. (AP) — A hunter from Minneapolis is dead after he accidentally shot himself while hunting in western Minnesota.

The Stevens County sheriff's office says 68-year-old Kent Bank went out alone about 3 p.m. Saturday to hunt for pheasant in Swan Lake Township.

Fellow hunters reported Bank missing about 7:20 p.m.. About an hour later authorities found him dead with a shotgun wound to the abdomen.

Sheriff Randy Willis tells the Star Tribune Bank apparently stumbled, then his gun discharged.

An autopsy is pending.

Minnesota's pheasant season opened Saturday.
