WILLMAR, Minn. (AP) — The Grand Forks Herald and West Central Tribune are the latest daily newspapers to endorse the Independence Party candidate for Minnesota governor.
Tom Horner is in a three-way race with Democrat Mark Dayton and Republican Tom Emmer.
The two newspapers said Monday Horner is the best candidate for the job because he has the best chance of corralling the bipartisan support that's needed to deal with the state's budget deficit.
Several other Forum Communications Co., newspapers have also endorsed Horner, including The Forum of Fargo, N.D., the Duluth News Tribune and the Bemidji Pioneer.
The state's largest newspaper, the Star Tribune of Minneapolis, endorsed Horner Sunday.
