American Red Cross offers support to apartment fire victims

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - With a large fire like the south Fargo apartment fire, there is a lot of need. The American Red Cross in Fargo met with victims from 10 to 4 today.

It helped them make plans, offered counseling and provided cash cards to buy things they need immediately like food, clothing, prescription eyeglasses and medicines and a hotel room for a few days. The financial assistance is meant to last 3 to 5 days. You will have to prove you were a resident of the apartment that burned down.

“The unique piece about this is the large scale and we have a large range of economic and age, so this is not just a single family today that we're dealing with.”

The apartment manager says the rental company will cut checks for residents that will include their deposit money and the rest of their pre-paid rent. If you are a victim needing help or information, you should call the Red Cross at 364-1800.
