Dickinson considers annexing more land

DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) — Dickinson officials are seeking to annex about 230 acres north of the city, but the idea is drawing opposition.

DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) — Dickinson officials are seeking to annex about 230 acres north of the city, but the idea is drawing opposition.

Mayor Dennis Johnson says it makes sense to annex a developed area that is adjacent to the city because not doing so could hinder future growth.

The Dickinson Press says some business officials in the area say they already have needed services, and being annexed would result in higher taxes without benefits.

Written comments on the matter must be submitted by Tuesday. Another public hearing is to be held during an Oct. 18 City Commission meeting.
