FARIBAULT, Minn. (AP) — A small plane crashed into a bean field south of Lonsdale in Rice County after hitting some power lines. Two people suffered minor injuries.
The Rice County Sheriff's Department says it happened about 2:15 p.m. Sunday. The initial investigation suggests the plane hit a power line then hit a combine working in the field.
The combine driver was not hurt, but the pilot and his passenger were taken to a hospital in New Prague with minor injuries.
They were identified as 66-year-old Martin Curtis of Montgomery and 58-year-old Roxanne Rossini of Prior Lake.
The sheriff's office says federal aviation officials are expected to begin their own investigation of the crash on Monday.
