WILLMAR, Minn. (AP) — A Willmar man accused of killing seven puppies now faces a felony for allegedly threatening to shoot a 7-year-old girl during the same incident.

According to an amended criminal complaint, a sheriff's detective interviewed a girl, now 8 years old, who said that Terence Schwartz told her to get away from the puppies or he was going to shoot her, too.

The girl also said she heard shots, dogs yelping and that the man who was watching her and another child told her to walk away from the residence.

The 57-year-old Schwartz was charged with second-degree assault and felony animal cruelty for the October 2009 incident but was charged Friday with a felony count of terroristic threats.

The West Central Tribune reports his next hearing is Nov. 12.
