BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota's candidates for secretary of state are having their first debate Wednesday night in Bismarck.
Incumbent Republican Al Jaeger and Democratic challenger Corey Mock are debating as part of a series of events organized by the League of Women Voters.
Mock has been critical of Jaeger's office administration. He says Jaeger has wasted more than $2 million on an office technology project, paid employees too much overtime and made mistakes on election paperwork.
Jaeger says he's been a good manager and the technology project delays were not his fault. He's been secretary of state for 18 years.
