BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — The state Department of Human Services is accepting applications for a program that helps needy North Dakotans pay winter heating bills.
The federal Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program helps people pay for heating costs, furnace repairs and weatherization services.
To qualify, a household must earn less than 60 percent of the state median income. For a family of three, that's about $36,800 a year.
North Dakota got $29.1 million last year to help the poor pay heating bills.
