BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Journalists Bob Schieffer and Dan Rather are slated to speak in North Dakota about the late Eric Sevareid, a Velva native.

A public humanities symposium called "Not So Wild a Dream: The Legacy of Eric Sevareid" is set Thursday through Sunday at Bismarck State College. The event is free.

Sevareid worked for CBS News from 1939 to 1977, covering major world events and later serving as a regular commentator on the "CBS Evening News" with Walter Cronkite. He died in 1992.

The Bismarck Tribune says Schieffer is slated to speak on Thursday. Rather is the scheduled speaker on Saturday.
