BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — The state Tax Department says North Dakota's taxable sales and purchases for April, May and June totaled more than $3.4 billion.

Tax Commissioner Cory Fong says that's up from $2.9 billion for the same period last year.

Fong says the strong second quarter growth was fueled by North Dakota's energy sector, which grew by 98 percent from the same period last year.
