Volunteers pack the stands to kick off the Extreme Makeover for an area family

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - About 3-thousand eager volunteers packed the stands at the BSA tonight to kick off the Extreme Makeover for a deserving area family. Cheerleaders from colleges around the area got the crowd going to gear up for next week's groundbreaking.

Officials from Heritage Homes kicked off the rally, along with the senior producer for the show. He says getting the whole community behind this undertaking is the only way to get the project done.

"Literally, it's bringing thousands of people together so we started asking people to come out and while they're coming out to see what we're doing to bring a can of food, come to the blood drive, and do those types of things. So we're trying to involve people as much as possible. We're one of the only shows that I'm aware of in Hollywood where we actually embrace the crowds."

Organizers are asking people to register online. To register, go to or call Heritage Homes. The build will begin October 4th, and be complete in 106-hours. There's also benefit concert for the family. "32 Below" will be playing at the Hub this Thursday and all proceeds go to the family.
