Mercer County to shift to Central time

HAZEN, N.D. (AP) — Federal authorities have granted Mercer County's request to switch the county Mountain time to Central time.

HAZEN, N.D. (AP) — Federal authorities have granted Mercer County's request to switch the county Mountain time to Central time.

The County Commission voted to make the request to the federal Transportation Department, which has the final say on time zone changes. The Bismarck Tribune reports that the Transportation Department approved the change this week.

The time change begins on Nov. 7.

Mercer County voted in favor of moving to Central time in 2000, but the Transportation Department said the small majority that favored a change in the advisory vote did not support such a move.
