Pre-trial hearing held for woman whose license was suspended after she was involved in a fatal crash
(WDAY TV) - A 93-year-old Oberon woman is back in court today being charged with driving while her license was suspended and without liability insurance.By: WDAY Staff Reports, WDAY
Faith Mitzel was arrested in August. Today was a pre-trial hearing. Prosecutors are asking for a 30 day jail sentence and a 1-thousand dollar for each charge.
Mitzel’s Attorney says he feels jail time is a little harsh for the first offense. No matter what the punishment, the victim’s family wants Mitzel’s license taken away permanently.
“Maybe a house arrest or some type of monitoring, after that I don't know. I still think there needs to be a petition that there is no driving.”
Mitzel license was suspended after she was involved in a May 19th accident that left one dead and 2 injured. She'll be back in court November 30th.
