GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — A man who claimed that he was robbed while working at a Grand Forks motel has pleaded guilty to taking about $10,000 from the business.

The Grand Forks Herald says 29-year-old Ricky Stephens faces up to 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine when he's sentenced in November.

Stephens was working at the Budget Inn Express in early April when he called police to report he had been robbed at gunpoint. Police later determined that Stephens had taken customers' cash for rooms but not entered the transactions in the motel's computer.

Stephens later was arrested in Florida. He pleaded not guilty in August but changed his plea this week.
