WILLMAR, Minn. (AP) — Police say shots were fired at a Willmar police officer after he responded to a report of a home invasion.

Authorities say the officer wasn't hurt, but a squad car, a nearby home and a stop sign were hit by gunfire Wednesday night.

Police say officers twice were called to a residence on a report that two gunmen had entered the home. The second time they responded, an officer spotted a person running from the home toward a nearby car in which three other suspects were waiting. Police says multiple shots were fired at the officer.

The West Central Tribune says four male suspects are being held in the Kandiyohi County Jail.
