Vining, Minn. (WDAY TV) - A huge honor for a little town in Otter Tail County. An effort to promote its Scandinavian heritage has earned Vining, Minnesota the 2009 International "Sons of Norway Lodge of the Year."

The competition covers the United States, Canada and Norway. Only 65 people live in the town, which was founded by Norwegian immigrants in the late 1800's.

The award is given to "Sons of Norway Lodges" that have active participation from members and promote Norwegian heritage, like making rommegrot and Scandinavian food for fairs and festivals in Otter Tail County.
