NIMROD, Minn. (AP) — An Andover man had spent more than 24 hours in the woods near Nimrod with a serious head wound when rescuers found him in shock, but alive.
The co-workers of dentist Thomas J. Knox become worried when he didn't show up for work on Monday. The Wadena County sheriff's office got the case about 4 p.m.
The search began and Knox's family found his vehicle near his property near Nimrod. Friends in the area told deputies the man had been cutting trails on his tractor on Sunday.
When rescuers found Knox on Monday evening he was in shock and couldn't speak. Authorities believe he had been there at least 25 to 30 hours.
KSAX-TV reports the 56-year-old was flown to North Memorial Medical Center where a spokesman says Knox was in critical condition Tuesday evening.
It was determined that Knox had suffered a serious head injury when a tree fell on him sometime Sunday.
