GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — The executive director of the city-owned Alerus Center in Grand Forks plans to step down, about five months after taking the job.

The Ames, Iowa, firm that contracts with Grand Forks to run the Alerus says Roger Swanson wants to spend more time with his family in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area, where his daughters attend high school and are active in sports.

City Commissioner Curt Kreun told the Grand Forks Herald that Swanson has been doing a fine job, fulfilling all the duties the commission asked of him.

The VenuWorks firm has started a national search for a replacement for Swanson, who is staying with the company in another role.
