Volunteers set to load backpacks with donated food

Fergus Falls, Minn. (WDAY TV) - The Fergus Falls School District is doing its part to make sure children don't go hungry. The backpack program aims to feed children in need by stuffing their backpacks with food.

Starting in October, volunteers will have a list of children. They will put donated food in their backpacks every Friday. All donations will be anonymous.

The school district says there are already 75-elementary students in Fergus falls on the list to get food.

“As both a parents and as a consumer in the Fergus Falls school district, I’m extremely proud to be affiliated with a school that cares enough about their kids to do that kind of a thing.”

They hope to have the backpack program throughout Otter Tail County by the end of the year.
