ST. PAUL (AP) — The Minnesota Supreme Court has upheld the life prison sentences for a brother and sister from rural Minnesota convicted of killing a man during a Thanksgiving party in 2003.

Robert Larson of Parkers Prairie and Jamie Larson of Pine City were convicted in the killing of Thomas Cady Jr. Jamie Larson and Cady had been dating.

In separate decisions issued Thursday, Minnesota's highest court said evidence presented during each Larson trial was sufficient to convict them and any errors were harmless.

The Larsons and Cady all attended a party at a St. Paul motel in November 2003. Witnesses said the Larsons talked about killing Cady, whom Jamie alleged had hit her. Authorities said the pair strangled Cady and dumped his body in a ditch.
