Larimore, ND (WDAY TV) - Teachers and school board members in Larimore can't reach a deal in contract negotiations that have gone on all summer.

The impasse means a state commission of 3-people will now come in and make recommendations to both sides.

The board's final offer to teachers included a 4.6 percent salary and benefit increase for this school year, including $1,250 dollars to each teacher. It would bump up the starting base-salary to $29,500 dollars.

Teachers are also asking for an additional personal day off and say the added steps to the salary schedule would not adequately cover veteran teachers. There are about 35 teachers in the district.
