Woman sentenced for stealing from Wadena Co. GOP

WADENA, Minn. (AP) — The former treasurer of the Wadena (wah-DEE'-nah) County GOP committee has been sentenced to 20 days on home monitoring for stealing over $10,000 from the party.

WADENA, Minn. (AP) — The former treasurer of the Wadena (wah-DEE'-nah) County GOP committee has been sentenced to 20 days on home monitoring for stealing over $10,000 from the party.

KSAX-TV reports that 61-year-old Linda Sue Rebischke was the treasurer for nearly five years before being accused of stealing the money over the course of two years.

Wadena Chief of Police Bruce Uselman says Rebischke admitted to taking the money, but told police she paid back much of it. He says she spent some of the money on gambling.

KSAX reports she received a one-year suspended sentence last Friday, 20 days of home monitoring and will have to perform community service. She will also will have to pay back the rest of the money she took and undergo a gambling addiction assessment.
