Nurse negotiators reach contract agreement

DULUTH, Minn. (AP) — Nurses in Duluth have avoided a possible strike and reached a tentative agreement with a local hospital.
The agreement follows an all-night negotiating session between the two parties which was considered the last bargaining meeting before more than 400 nurses scheduled a one-day strike.
Union negotiator Cindy Prout says the agreement addresses nurses' concerns over staffing levels.
One of the key issues in negotiations was a new code of conduct for nurses. The proposed contract gives nurses input on the new code.
Minnesota Public Radio says the Minnesota Nurses Association expects to schedule a vote on the agreement in about a week.
