Sanford begins testing patients of a physician that was diagnosed with tuberculosis
Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Sanford Health says testing has begun today for about 55-patients following an announcement a physician there was diagnosed with tuberculosis. 41-staff are also being tested.By: WDAY Staff Reports, WDAY
Sanford said today, children of patients who may have been along during the doctor visit, can get tested as well. Patients affected received a phone call and letter over the weekend.
The blood tests are being sent to Bismarck for analysis on a fast track. Sanford officials say there is a minimal chance any of the patients exposed will become ill.
There is no vaccination for TB, but there is treatment for those who test positive for the disease.
“We made arrangements for those to go to the closest Sanford Clinic and then we will do the testing for them so they don't have to come to Fargo to have their testing done.”
The physician infected with TB is undergoing treatment right now.
