Ohio native wins the Bobcat Open

Fargo, ND (WDAY Sports) - The Bobcat Open was up for grabs entering yesterday's final round. Thirteen players were within 5 shots of the lead at the start of play, one of those guys being the former champ Dave Schultz.

He was five off the pace going into the day, but things wouldn't go so well for Schultz. Here on 11, he misses the par putt and has to settle for bogey. He would shoot a 73 and finish 10 shots back, tied for 8th.

Mike Barge was in contention today. This chip on the 12th almost goes down. He would par the hole and finish -9 under, tied for second.

Tim Ailes led most of the afternoon. He gets the birdie on the 14th. That moved him to 13 under.

On the final hole, Ben Kern had a chance to put some pressure on Ails, but Kern bogeyed the hole. He would finish tied for second with Barge. So that allowed Tim Ails to cruise his way to the victory by 5 shots.

Take one last look at the leader board. The Ohio native Tim Ailes turns in a great performance. For winning the bobcat open, Tim Ailes walks away with a cool ten grand and Bobcat will pay for him to go to qualifying school.

One other golf score to get to you: Fargo's Kane Hanson finished second today at the Canadian Tour Championship. He'll take home $18,000 for his efforts.
