FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Officials estimate that as many as 7,500 people took part in a Fargo-Moorhead event encouraging physical activity and a healthy lifestyle.

The inaugural Streets Alive event Sunday afternoon replaced motor vehicle traffic with various forms of human-powered transportation.

A five-mile stretch of streets connecting downtown Fargo and neighboring Moorhead, Minn., was closed to vehicles and opened to bicyclists, inline skaters, walkers and joggers.

Organizers hope to make the festival an annual event.
