Texting and driving ban up for vote in Grand Forks
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — The Grand Forks City Council is to vote Monday on a ban on texting while driving.

Some members of the council's Service and Safety Committee had wanted a broader ban on driving while distracted. Members ultimately opted to focus just on texting while they work on legal language to define distracted driving.
The texting-and-driving law would forbid the sending and receiving of text messages, e-mail and Web pages while behind the wheel, with some exceptions such as for reporting a crime. The fine would be $20.
