Spring flood-threatened ND town has dried out

LINTON, N.D. (AP) — The Linton area in south central North Dakota was threatened by Beaver Creek flooding last spring, but now it could use some water.

Emmons County Extension Agent Doug Bichler says hot, dry weather is stressing crops, especially corn. He says there's been no significant rainfall for at least a month and a half.

The area had so much moisture last spring that Linton residents used thousands of sand bags to hold off a repeat of devastating flooding that occurred in the spring of 2009.
