Rapid City temp on Sunday was unusual
RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - Rapid City's high temperature Sunday snapped a record-long string of sub-100 temperatures.

The National Weather Service said the highest recorded temperature at the Rapid City airport on Sunday was 102 degrees.
The last time the temperature had surpassed 100 was a record 1,105 days earlier, on Aug. 13, 2007.
Weather Service spokesman David Carpenter said the previous record for length of days without a temperature over 100 degrees was 738, from July 11, 1981, to July 18, 1983.
