No motors allowed at upcoming Streets Alive event

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Move over cars; bikers, joggers, and walkers will soon be taking over the roadways in downtown Fargo.

This Sunday at noon, the city will be closing parts of Broadway, Main, Center Avenue and other roads in the downtown area.

It's the first ever Streets Alive event in Fargo-Moorhead. It's Put on by the Cass Clay Healthy People Initiative.

The complete path is about five miles long and there will be checkpoints with fun activities along the way. Any form of movement that is not motorized is welcomed.

“We're trying to get people to think and organizations to think a little bit differently about our norms our culture.”

An event like this originated in Bogota, Colombia. There, 70 miles of roadway are cleared every Sunday of the year.
