GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — A woman has been sentenced to one year of probation and ordered to pay back nearly $5,000 for embezzling from the Minto post office.

Laura Satterlund was charged in federal court with theft of government property, misappropriation of postal funds and fraudulent issuance of U.S. Postal Service money orders. She pleaded guilty in June to one count.

Satterlund was the officer in charge at the Minto post office. Authorities say she has returned the money to the Postal Service.

U.S. District Judge Ralph Erickson also ordered Satterlund to perform 75 hours of community service.
