2 dead in Wright County plane crashCLEARWATER, Minn. (AP) — Two men were killed when a small plane crashed in Wright County and the Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.
A news release from the Wright County sheriff's office says deputies received the call about 12:40 p.m. Sunday and were led to swampy area in Clearwater Township.
There, the pilot and passenger were found dead. The names were being withheld pending further investigation by deputies and the FAA.
However, Sheriff's Sgt. Todd Sandin tells the Star Tribune of Minneapolis they were a 32-year-old pilot from Big Lake and his passenger, a 34-year-old man from Maple Lake.
Sandin says it appears the two friends took the two-seater bi-plane out on a leisure flight. They took off from a grass airstrip in Clear Lake.
