Young and inexperienced Cobber team ready for the big stageMoorhead, Minn. (WDAY Sports) - The Concordia football team knows they're young and inexperienced, but that isn't fazing this group. While all the talk is on their brand new field, WDAY 6's Trevor Peterson tells us they're ready for the big stage.
Concordia has 141 guys out for football this fall. Trouble is, only six have starting experience. It's one of the least experienced teams Terry Horan's had in his ten years as head coach.
For the first time in a long time, the Cobbers don't have a question about the quarterback position heading into the season. Mike Dunham started the final four games of last year and led the Cobbers to a 3-1 record, throwing for more than 1,200 yards. The junior was named 2nd team all-conference and should be even better in 2010.
Speaking of quick, the new artificial turf at the Jake is a fast surface that should benefit speed. With so many unknowns at different positions, whether that benefits the Cobbers is yet to be determined.
The Cobbers have had just one losing season in Horan's nine years. They open this year at Dickinson State on September 4th.
