State data puts Sturgis deaths at 14
STURGIS, S.D. (AP) - State accident records show 14 motorcycle fatalities in the period leading up to and during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in western South Dakota.
STURGIS, S.D. (AP) - State accident records show 14 motorcycle fatalities in the period leading up to and during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in western South Dakota.
The Highway Patrol earlier reported that nine people died in motorcycle crashes in the Sturgis and Black Hills area during the rally that ended Sunday.
The state Department of Public Safety data includes crashes that occurred in the state but outside of the rally region, in Charles Mix, McCook, Corson, Jerauld and Minnehaha counties.
There also were some fatal motorcycle crashes in other states linked to the rally, including one in Iowa with four dead.
