GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — A proposed ban on texting while driving in Grand Forks is going back to committee, so City Council members can determine what other items might be included in a broader distracted driving ordinance.
The texting-and-driving law would forbid the sending and receiving of text messages, e-mail and Web pages while behind the wheel, with some exceptions such as for reporting a crime. The fine would be $30.
Council member Tyrone Grandstrand says many residents have told him that a ban only on texting while driving would not go far enough.
The city's Service/Safety Committee will look into the matter further.
