78th Pine to Palm Final

Detroit Lakes, Minn. (WDAY Sports) - Well it was the young gun against the old dog in the final of this year's Pine to Palm tournament in Detroit Lakes.

The 21-year old defending champ Tom Hogey faced off against the oldest man in the field, 51-year old Todd Hillier.

Hillier was trying to become the oldest man to ever win the tourney.

“It was a windy day on the course. That made it tough for both players.”

We pick it up on the 11th. Hillier led 2 up, make it 3 up after knocking down this putt. But Tom Hogey would fight back here on the 13th. Hogey chips one within inches of the cup. That cut Hiller's lead back to 2 up.

But the old guy had some tricks up his sleeve, including this birdie on 15. That put him 3 up again heading into the final three holes. Then on the 17th, this was your winner.

Todd Hillier wins the 78th Pine to Palm tournament. The 51-year old becomes the oldest man to ever make that claim. He says this victory was for all the older guys out there. What's next for Hillier? The fields! He says he'll get back to work farming in Hoople, North Dakota.
