Area rivers on the rise after heavy rains
Wahpeton, ND (WDAY TV) - Rivers in the area are on the rise, again. Heavy rain is bringing rivers out of their banks, after storms rolled across the region. There are some impressive rain totals. Lisbon had 3-and-a-half inches; Lidgerwood almost 2-and-a-half; and Wahpeton with more than an inch.By: Kevin Wallevand, WDAY
That water is now headed our way. The rain amounts are impressive with three and a half inches in Lisbon, two and a half inches in Lidgerwood, and more than an inch in Wahpeton. What can we expect with the Red on the Rise?
7-year old Tyler Jennings came all the way from Texas to do a little Cat-Fishing on the Red this weekend. He and 10-other family members are in Lindenwood Park, fishing on the banks of a now rising red. It is up a foot today even from Thursday.
The Family is staying in the lower part of Lindenwood's campgrounds, which have been packed this summer. But with all that rain down south now headed north, this part of the park may have to make some changes
Fortunately time is on Lindenwood's side. No sudden jumps in the river to worry about. At 17-feet, Park District workers would also remove the walking bridge near the dike.
