A shot at the NCAA tourney draws freshmen with impressive resumes

Fargo, ND (WDAY Sports) - While plenty of attention is focused on the amount of freshmen that may see the field for Craig Bohl this fall, Saul Phillips will be counting on his freshmen class to contribute right away this basketball season with eyes on another tourney run.

“That's one thing that attracted me here is they know to get to the NCAA tourney, that's definitely an attraction.”

It's what attracted all three freshmen, Trayvonn Wright, Taylor Baxter, and Marshall Bjorklund to come to NDSU; each with impressive resumes and all ready to prove themselves on the floor as soon as possible.

“I don't shoot a lot, but I am mostly around the hoop. I dunk a lot and try to be crafty as possible. I am a run and gun type player.”

“You see a mean guy who's ripping down rebounds and playing hard. That’s all that you can really ask for.”

“I am more of an unselfish player. I like see my teammates involved and I am a player that wants to win.”

The Bison believe this freshman class gives them a great chance to win more next season. Enhanced by the player of the year in Minnesota, Bjorklund, who has racked up awards in the offseason and the expectations from the fans have rose.

“I don't put any pressure on myself. It is a whole different level with no pressure. I go out and do what I've always done and hope for the best.”
