BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A screening committee is looking for applicants for a North Dakota district judgeship in the community of New Rockford.

Gov. John Hoeven will be picking a successor to former Judge James Bekken, who died in May.

Applicants must have their paperwork to the state bar association's offices in Bismarck by Aug. 25. The screening committee plans to interview candidates in late September in Jamestown. Hoeven will make the appointment afterward.

New Rockford is part of North Dakota's Southeast Judicial District. It has seven judges and covers 11 counties. It includes the cities of Jamestown, Valley City and Wahpeton.

The judge position pays $119,330 a year.
