DULUTH, Minn. (AP) — Duluth police say a 17-year-old boy was fatally shot by an officer.

Police were called to the teen's home about 11:30 p.m. Thursday. Witnesses say Joey Carl became enraged during an argument at his house and started smashing windows with the bat.

They say Carl argued with a police officer who responded to the home, then was shot after charging at the officer with his bat.

The Duluth News Tribune says Carl was cited by police for underage drinking at a party broken up by officers earlier that night.
