No hearing for fired Rolette County worker

ROLLA, N.D. (AP) — The Rolette County Commission this week decided against holding a hearing for a former county worker who said he was unjustly fired.

ROLLA, N.D. (AP) — The Rolette County Commission this week decided against holding a hearing for a former county worker who said he was unjustly fired.

Twenty-seven-year-old corrections officer Brandon Mathiason was fired by Interim Sheriff Melvin Frank on July 21, the day after Mathiason filed to run for sheriff.

Frank said the firing was not related to the sheriff's race. Mathiason disputed that and appealed to the County Commission.

Auditor Val McCloud said the commission decided against a hearing because county policy does not allow for an appeal by Mathiason, who had not been on the job long and was still under probationary status when he was fired.
