Fundraising process for the Bison Sports Arena has been approved
Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - A major step forward for a facelift on NDSU's campus. The fundraising process has been approved for updates to the 40-year-old Bison Sports Arena.
The approval from the Board of Higher Education gets the ball rolling on the Bison Sports Arena renovations. President Bresciani says it's time the division one school had a division one facility.
The $32-million dollar renovations will be comprehensive according to Bresciani and will involve replacing and even adding on to the current facility. The BSA is used for a variety of sports including basketball, track, wrestling and swimming.
Bresciani says fundraising dollars could come from grassroots movements all the way to corporate sponsorships, but wherever it comes from, the president says the facelift to the old and used facility is something the whole community has been asking for.
"From everyone I talk to, they see the potential of this facility to really reposition us both in terms of the success of our program, the competitiveness of our program, but also the comfort and convenience of our fans and those that support athletics at NDSU".
The next step for NDSU is to find enough funding in the community to make the renovations possible. They say that process will start as soon as possible. The renovation project will be split into three construction phases, which should take about two years once construction starts.
