Groups collaborate on effort to grow more Winter Wheat
Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - There may finally be some common ground between the Ag community and conservationists.By: WDAY Staff Reports, WDAY
Collaboration between NDSU, the University of Minnesota, Ducks Unlimited and Bayer CropScience is focusing on bringing more Winter Wheat to the area. This team up will bring back a wheat breeding program to NDSU.
Project leaders say this will help spread out farmers’ workload throughout the year and that winter crop provides a habitat for a large number of water fowl. They say it is a win, win between groups who haven't always seen eye to eye.
“Been seen as often times having different agendas and this is bringing them together and have them collaborate in a way that is better for both those organizations and the country that we all serve.”
People with NDSU say their new greenhouse opening adds to the perfect timing of this project in advancing winter wheat studies.
