Sugar beet pre-pile to get an early start
(WDAY TV) - The sugar beet pre-pile could get started earlier than normal this harvest season. American Crystal's pre-pile will likely start on August 17th.By: WDAY Staff Reports, WDAY
It means processing factories in Drayton, Hillsboro, Moorhead, East Grand Forks and Crookston will start about two-weeks earlier than normal. Experts say it's been a favorable growing season because the beets got in the fields in April instead of mid-June like last year.
American Crystal is expecting about 25-and-a-half tons of beets per acre this year which could break records.
