Open houses like this are spread throughout Barnesville.

"It's nice to come in, especially when the weekends in the summer are so valuable, to come in one day and get to see all of them."

Anna Gross teaches high school in the small town. She and her husband are living in Moorhead, but want this area as a permanent residence.

"I want this community and I want her to go to the school here and just grow up in a smaller town."

Realtors say this event is huge for them. The city always holds it in conjunction with the County Fair. Realtors say it really increases the chances an out-of-towner will come stop by the homes."

"You get a lot of people in here that might not otherwise come to an open house so when you've got a deal like this going on you're going to get a lot more people in the house."

City officials say about 70 percent of people living in Barnesville commute to Fargo for work. Gross's husband will be adding to that statistic.

"I did it for a year teaching here and driving from Moorhead and it's doable and he's fine with that."

Gross is not signing on a dotted line, just a good look at 5 or 6 possible future homes. There were 23 homes to look at. Prices ranged from 59 to 559 thousand dollars.
