12th annual School Supply Drive gets underway
(WDAY TV) - Your kids may be kicking and screaming to go school supply shopping, but thousands of kids in the area would be happy to be so lucky.By: WDAY Staff Reports, WDAY
Today was the official start of the United Way Cass-Clay's 12th annual School Supply Drive. Until August 18th, you can drop off new school supplies like backpacks, highlighters, notebooks and pencil boxes to donation bins around the community.
This year they're hoping to collect 45-hundred backpacks full of supplies to help disadvantaged kids get excited about heading back to school.
“Think of a kid who on their first day can open up their backpack and have the same school supplies as the other kids have. I always think of them sitting on their living room floor before school starts and opening up that backpack and the excitement it creates that they have new, fresh supplies to start school.”
To register to receive a backpack or for more information you can visit UnitedWayCassClay.org. Forum Communications and WDAY is a proud sponsor of the School Supply Drive.
